October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and in lieu of Safe Connections’ annual in-person Lotus Ball gala, we are hosting a Lotus Ball Un-Event all month long!
Approximately 1 in 4 women (23% or 2.2 million women) and 1 in 13 men experience intimate partner violence in the United States. Domestic/Intimate Partner Violence can take on many forms – physical abuse, financial abuse, technological abuse, verbal abuse, emotional abuse, and/or sexual abuse.
Safe Connections’ mission works to reduce the impact and incidence of relationship violence and sexual assault through Prevention Education, 24-Hour crisis intervention, counseling and support services. Recognizing what intimate partner and domestic abuse looks like will help put an end to the abuse.
24-Hour Crisis Helpline - 314-531-2003
A gift at this level will provide access for 25 middle school boys to complete our Guys Group peer leadership program. These groups have a proven track record of helping boys from age 12 to age 18 change their beliefs and behaviors to be a good influence on their peers when it comes to being inclusive and respectful of all individuals.
A gift at this level enables ONE survivors of abuse, rape and childhood sexual abuse to participate in weekly Trauma-informed Therapy Sessions with a specialized master’s level therapist for THREE – SIX months.
A gift of this magnitude would provide access for 200 youth to participate in our co-ed Project HART healthy relationships workshop series…10 weeks of interactive activities and lessons that make a difference for a lifetime.
This gift helps Safe Connections keep the Crisis Helpline staffed 24-hours a day, 365 days a year by expertly trained crisis advocates and staff. Last year, we answered 3,650 calls, many from individuals who were in desperate need of much more than a phone conversation.
This amount can go a long way when it comes to Emergency Transportation Needs of those being abused or assaulted. We support callers to our 24-hour Crisis Helpline with bus rides, cab fares…whatever is needed to escape to a safe location. When an individual is in an extreme state of danger and isolation, we arrange and pay for transportation out of town.
A gift at this level goes a long way to support our counseling clients by helping to meet their Basic Needs. We tap into our Emergency Assistance Fund to provide clients in crisis with groceries, prescription medications, and other necessities like keeping their electricity on. When clients can’t meet their basic needs, it is very difficult for them to focus on their mental health recovery.
Gift of any size to show your support of our mission.
